It may not look like much now, but what these images are showing will make a big impact! What you're seeing is the Kennedy on-ramp access at the top of B-Lift where we’re widening the entrance. Doing this allows for better snowmaking through this junction and creates a less congested intersection. This is a trail maintenance project the Snowmaking Team is taking on in an effort to improve the on-mountain experience in the winter. Our snowmakers are often faced with challenges regarding snowgun placement. We can't just set up shop anywhere on the mountain. Tight spaces, lots of trees, and wind direction all play into the equation. The team is always looking to place snow guns in a location that will maximize their capacity without hitting trees or other objects. Sometimes easier said than done. When we can’t make snow in these tight locations, we rely on grooming to push the snow where it's needed. Having the ability to place snow guns close to where we need the snow is much more efficient overall. So next up is Empire Glades, where we're removing a few trees in the center of that trail to allow snowmaking abilities on Empire Trail. This work will help us make snow in these tight spots allowing access to more intermediate terrain sooner. We're excited to give you more updates like this all summer long! (2023-05-03)

The lifts have stopped spinning at Hunter Mountain for the winter season and we're shifting our focus to summer! On July 1, Hunter begins Scenic Skyride lift service offering fantastic views of the Catskill Mountains and the surrounding area. A Scenic Skyride is a top family activity on the six-passenger Kaatskill Flyer chairlift taking guests to the 3,200-foot summit of Hunter Mountain. On a clear day, you'll see the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts and the Green Mountains of Vermont beyond New York's Catskill Mountain peaks. Or hike the trails leading to the Hunter Mountain Fire Tower!
